Tourism that is concerned with visually consuming the physical environment and it’s inhabitants is likely to be preoccupied with remaking this as objects for endless reproductions of this gaze. In this typological series of photographs Toft have positioned herself within the picture frame when tourists photograph themselves in front of the Edinburgh Castle; the most popular tourist attraction in Scotland with more than 1 mill visitors each year.
The work is part of the project PROSPEKT and was also shown in the group exhibition PROLOGUE II at Republic Gallery Vancouver, 2006
